Kazakhstan launches pilot program for mandatory label management of footwear products
Interfax Almaty, August 1st, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development announced on the same day that according to the “Eurasian Economic Union Goods Labeling Agreement”, The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan plans to launch a pilot program of mandatory labeling and traceability system management for footwear commodities, which is of great significance for reducing illegal import, production and circulation of footwear commodities. The pilot project aims to test the interaction between mandatory labeling and market participants. The pilot project adopts a voluntary principle, and any enterprise can join at any time with the consent of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development. The pilot implementation period is from July 30, 2019 to March 31, 2020. So far, 11 footwear manufacturers and importers have joined the pilot project.
