Polish company LPP has joined the Cotton Manufacturing in Africa (CmiA) partnership group. The company said that CmiA is the internationally recognized standard for sustainable cotton cultivation in Africa. According to the agreement reached, LPP Company has signed a cotton procurement contract in accordance with CmiA standards, the quantity of which will allow the production of 60 million products, of which the content of this raw material is 95-100%.

LPP sustainability manager Justyna Weryk said the company realized that as it worked to implement solutions that limit its environmental impact throughout its distribution supply chain, Sustainable development of the company will be possible. Joining the African Cotton Manufacturing Initiative is another step in the company’s search for new sources. Cotton grown according to the principles of sustainable development, African cotton marked with CmiA standards is an excellent alternative to this raw material, which until now has mainly been sourced from Asian markets.

CmiA was established in 2005 and is one of the international initiatives for sustainable cotton production and supply chain transparency in the textile industry. This internationally recognized standard is designed to help small African farmers establish business relationships with fashion companies. Dorota Jankowska-Tomków, LPP’s ESG director, said the company believes that this initiative has the opportunity to bring about real and lasting changes to the world’s textile industry thanks to a network of contacts, including some 500 partners that form the CmiA supply chain in 22 countries. .
