My name is Gulishar Muhamatijiang, and I live in Xiaoguai Township, Karamay City. Recently, I saw on the Internet that the H&M Group openly issued a statement to “boycott Xinjiang cotton” on the grounds of “forced labor” in Xinjiang. I was very angry when I saw this news.

Cotton is the main source of income for our farmers in Xinjiang. My family grows more than 100 acres of cotton and raises cattle and sheep. Multiple incomes make our family’s life better and better. Now, when we grow cotton, every step from sowing with seeders, to spraying pesticides with drones, to picking with large cotton pickers, is mechanized, saving time and effort. The cotton picking machine can pick cotton and pack it at the same time, which is really convenient. We only need to send the packed cotton directly to the cotton processing factory, and we can receive a lot of income.

Our Xinjiang cotton has good quality, and the quilts we make are breathable, soft and comfortable, so we also keep some cotton at home to make quilts and mattresses. I usually also like to buy towels and clothes made of Xinjiang cotton, because Xinjiang cotton is better than ordinary cotton in terms of softness, gloss, skin-friendliness, air permeability, elasticity, etc.

Malicious slander cannot erase the fact that people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang live a happy and beautiful life. In Xinjiang, the busy figures and happy smiling faces in every cotton field are true reflections of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang creating a happy life.
