Heavy! SORONA® Joins RCI and Appears at RENEWABLE Materials Summit
Which RENEWABLE materials are solutions that can meet the needs of future society? In order to deal with this challenging problem, NOVA-INSTITUTE held the “Renewable Materials Summit” from May 18 to 20, 2021, to discuss bio-based, CO2-based and recyclable renewable materials with experts from all walks of life. Material Solutions. SORONA® bio-based materials, as solutions for sustainable development, actively participated in the summit discussions.
NOVA-INSTITUTE 2021 RENEWABLE Materials Summit
NOVA-INSTITUTE is the world’s top independent research institution in biotechnology-related fields. Founded in 1994, it focuses on bioeconomy, bioindustrial technology, etc. as research and consulting. NOVA-INSTITUTE has organized the 10th International Bio-based Materials Forum in Europe, which is the highest-profile event in the global bio-based field.
What are the highlights of this NOVA-INSTITUTE 2021 RENEWABLE Materials Summit? This conference provides a professional knowledge and technology exchange platform, gathering top experts and scientists, various international and international associations, research projects and expert groups to shape the sustainable future of chemicals and materials. Renewable material solutions presented by NOVA-INSTITUTE: Bio-based, CO2-based and recyclable, introducing focus and innovation on bio- and CO2-based chemicals and materials as well as chemical recycling, all material solutions will avoid the use of additional of fossil carbon.
SORONA® becomes an RCI member
The Renewable Materials Summit is an annual conference organized by RCI/Nova Chemicals, a sponsor of the Renewable Carbon Community (RCI). DuPont Biomaterials is proud to be a member of the (RCI) Renewable Carbon Initiative. . NOVA-INSTITUTE was launched after realizing that the chemical and plastics industry faces huge challenges in its struggle to achieve the climate goals set by theEU and the expectations of global society for sustainable development Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI). Clearly, the industry must move beyond the use of renewable energy. Since decarbonization is not an option for organic chemistry, which is entirely based on the use of carbon, an alternative strategy is needed. Therefore, NOVA-INSTITUTE developed a renewable carbon strategy and established RCI to put theory into practice.
SORONA® BIO-BASED SUSTAINABILITY
SORONA® is not only a gold sponsor of the Renewable Materials Summit, but also participated in the summit’s discussions on sustainability and bio-based polymers as a solution for sustainable development.
The core raw material of DuPont™ SORONA® bio-based fiber comes from plant starch sugar and uses 37% plant-based raw materials. Compared with nylon 6, the SORONA® production process reduces the consumption of petroleum resources by 37% and saves 30% of energy use. And reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 63%.
SORONA®COMMON THREAD fabric certification system
After more than 200 years of innovation, DuPont is entering a new era of discovery. Our scientists, engineers and all of our partners work together to discover the answers that turn possibility into reality, helping humanity thrive. DuPont™ SORONA® will never stop exploring and continue to practice the path of sustainable development.
