Tumushuk, Xinjiang: Cotton grows well due to continued high temperature weather
Since the start of sowing in April, bad weather such as hail, rain, snow, strong winds, and low temperatures has occurred in Tumushuk City of the Third Division of the Xinjiang Corps, resulting in a low germination rate of cotton sown in the early stage, and most cotton fields have been resown.
In mid-May, two consecutive rains caused nearly 30% of the re-sown seedlings in some cotton fields to fail to emerge (accounting for about 2% of the total sown area). Due to the limited growth cycle, these cotton fields could only re-sow corn. Up to now, the overall growth of cotton in Tuanchang is gratifying, the growth situation is at the normal level in the past three years, and all cotton field management work is being carried out in an orderly manner.
