Akto County: Cotton growth and plant height have declined to varying degrees compared to normal years
Since July 4, Akto County has experienced widespread high-temperature weather, with the highest temperature rising to 36.3°C. On July 13, staff from the Meteorological Bureau of Akto County, Xinjiang went into the fields to provide meteorological services during the cotton flowering period.
The staff conducted surveys on cotton in different areas, measured the height of the sampled cotton, checked the soil moisture, and comprehensively understood the growth status of cotton. According to preliminary investigation and analysis, since the beginning of summer this year, temperatures in Akto County have been higher than in previous years, precipitation has been lower, and relative humidity has been lower, resulting in cotton growth and plant height declining to varying degrees compared to normal years. At the same time, the staff further strengthened communication with the agricultural department, produced special service materials based on recent weather and climate characteristics, and recommended farmers to strengthen field management and actively carry out irrigation and drought relief.
