Korla, Xinjiang: Cotton enters the peak season

Since August, cotton in the Korla region of Xinjiang has entered the peak boll season. Due to weather changes, pests and diseases have increased significantly recently compared with before, and the cotton growth is also slightly worse than the same period last year.

The persistent high temperature weather in July has had a certain impact on some cotton fields in the Korla region. Some fields have experienced water shortages, causing cotton tops to fall off. A local cotton farmer said that the loss of top peaches may have a certain impact on later production, but if the frost period is delayed by a few days this year, the production this year will still be considerable.

Up to now, cotton field management work mainly focuses on the prevention and control of pests and diseases to ensure the normal growth of cotton and extend the life of leaves to increase cotton yield.
