Kashgar: In most cotton areas, the cotton boll-breaking period is expected to be earlier than in previous years
It is expected that from August 17th to 19th, it will be sunny and cloudy with floating dust in various parts of the Kashgar region, with easterly winds of level 4 to 5, and local light rain in mountainous areas.
Climate forecast from August 21st to September 10th: It is expected that from August 21st to September 10th, the temperature in Kashgar will be slightly higher than normal by 0.4 to 0.9°C, and the precipitation will be 10 to 20% higher than normal. During the forecast period, there will be three precipitation weather processes affecting our area. The time and intensity are: August 21 to 23, moderate precipitation weather process, August 30 to September 1, September 8 to 10, mid- Weak precipitation weather process.
At present, cotton in the Kashgar Plain is in the flowering and boll growth period. Based on the observation data of cotton boll cracking and lint-bursting periods in Kashgar in recent years, combined with the observations of cotton growth and development period in 2021 and recent climate trend predictions, it is expected that most of the cotton in Kashgar will grow in 2021. The cotton boll cracking and catdding periods in the district are earlier than previous years, close to or slightly earlier than last year. The boll cracking period of cotton is expected to start from August 22 to 28, the general boll cracking period will be around August 24 to September 4, and the boll bursting period will start on August 24. The period is from August 28 to September 10. It is expected that from late August to early September, the average temperature in the Kashgar region will be slightly higher and the precipitation will be higher. The meteorological conditions are basically favorable for the growth of cotton boll cracking and fluffing. Recommendation: All regions should strengthen cotton field management and pest and disease prevention. Cotton fields with poor soil moisture should be irrigated in a timely manner and water should be stopped at an appropriate time.
