According to reports, in 2014, the Qing Dong Tomb Cultural Relics Management Office commissioned the China Silk Museum to launch a restoration and protection project for the collection of textiles. The 20 cultural relics are all produced by Jiangning (Nanjing) weaving company of the Qing Dynasty. They have excellent materials, exquisite patterns and superb craftsmanship, and have important cultural and artistic value. In particular, the Dharani sutras, Buddhist dragon robes, lotus mattresses, etc. unearthed from Cixi’s underground palace represent the highest level of textile skills at that time and deeply reflect the characteristics of royal funeral customs.
During the implementation of the restoration project, the China Silk Museum, in accordance with the principles of “repairing the old as before” and “minimum intervention and maximum protection”, hired experts many times to demonstrate the restoration plan, and organized professional craftsmen to carefully repair it by hand to make the cultural relics rejuvenated. Lost the original style. The Dharani Sutra was unearthed from Cixi’s underground palace and originally covered Cixi’s body. The sutra quilt is 275 cm wide and 288 cm long. It has four inner and outer borders and is decorated with auspicious patterns of “Longevity and Longevity”. The center is embroidered with lama pagodas and scriptures in Chinese characters, with more than 25,000 characters.
The Eastern Tombs of the Qing Dynasty are the largest, most complete and well-organized imperial mausoleum complex in China. In November 2000, they were listed as a World Cultural Heritage.
