Cotton harvest in Alar Reclamation Area of Xinjiang “comes back to the warehouse”
On October 8, in the machine-picked cotton field of the Second Regiment of the First Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, with the roar of cotton pickers, the 1.2 million acres of machine-picked cotton planted in the Alar Reclamation Area of Xinjiang ushered in the peak harvest season. .
The Alar Reclamation Area is located on the northern edge of the Taklimakan Desert. It is arid with little rain, large temperature difference between day and night, abundant sunshine, and a long frost-free period. It is an important production base of commercial cotton and high-quality cotton in my country.
This year, each group farm in Alar Reclamation District adopts the “one primary and two auxiliary” planting model, vigorously promotes advanced cotton planting technologies such as Beidou navigation, cotton precision seeding, and under-film precision drip irrigation, focusing on water and fertilizer operations, chemical regulation and control , pest control and other management measures are effectively connected with scientific cotton planting, and the cotton planted has achieved a bumper harvest.
At the same time, each group farm in the reclamation area uses the gaps between field management to organize maintenance workers to carry out inspection, maintenance, maintenance and other work on the cotton picking machines, so that the cotton picking machines can be put into use in the best condition. In order to improve the quality of machine-picked cotton, each group farm in the reclamation area sprays defoliants on the cotton fields in a timely manner, handles the cotton picking work at the edge of the field, and ensures that the machine-picked cotton fields are picked clean at one time. The rate reaches more than 95%.
Cotton machine-picking has been fully launched in the Alar Reclamation Area of Xinjiang. The cadres and masses of cotton planting groups seized the favorable opportunity of fine weather and invested more than 300 cotton picking machines to harvest cotton at full capacity to ensure a bumper cotton harvest. The catkins are returned to the warehouse, and the harvest is expected to be completed in early November.
