1) Scouring: The purpose of scouring is to remove most of the sericin, grease and other contaminants on the raw materials before spinning to make dry cotton, so as to facilitate the production of subsequent spinning and dyeing and finishing projects. Therefore, the production at this stage determines the quality of the silk fibers and the ease of further processing. The process flow is: sorting and impurity removal → scouring → washing → dehydration → drying.
a) Selection and removal of impurities. The selection is based on the type of raw materials, glue content, oil content, color, strength, cocoon layer thickness, etc. Impurity removal is to use manual or mechanical methods to beat the raw materials to make the impurities fall down, or to use chemical methods to carbonize the plant impurities. If it is cocoon material, use a cocoon cutter to cut the cocoons and line up the pupae.
b) Refined. The raw materials are put into the scouring barrel or scouring machine with chemical materials and additives for degumming, degreasing and contamination removal. There are two refining methods: biochemical method and chemical method. Biochemical methods are divided into natural fermentation methods and enzymatic methods. There are three chemical methods: alkali scouring, soap scouring and acid scouring.
c) Wash, dehydrate and dry. After the raw materials are refined, a lot of impurities such as scouring liquid and scum remain on the silk fibers. They need to be soaked in clean water and warm water in a washing machine, then dehydrated using a centrifugal dehydrator, and then dried with hot air in a dryer. Made into fine dry cotton. After drying, the dried cotton must be cured and moistened.
2) Cotton making: The purpose of cotton production is to spin finely dried cotton into cotton sheets that meet the process requirements through sorting, mixing, opening, impurity removal, carding, etc.
