Fabric thermal protection performance TPP testing method

1. There are two methods for high temperature resistance test. One is dynamic combustion test: This is a method to determine the flame resistance of fabrics under stress. That is, when the intensity of the fire source and the tension endured by the fabric are relatively stable, the short time it takes for the fabric to rupture is measured, thereby indicating the degree of high temperature resistance of the fabric under stress. This is more meaningful for performance testing of certain stress-bearing parts of the garment, such as elbows and knees. The second is the thermal cracking test of clothing or fabrics. A quantitative heat flow is used to impact the cloth surface, and the exposure time required to cause the fabric to crack is measured. At the same time, the surface damage is observed. After the fabric is heated, it chars or melts and shrinks. If holes appear, it indicates the failure of local protection.
2. Thermal protection test, the test of thermal protection performance is referred to as TPP test method. This is an experimental method for measuring the thermal insulation properties of fabrics. When testing, heat hits the fabric directly (in the form of two different forms of heat transfer, 50% convection and 50% radiation). Thermal sensors measure the amount of heat penetrating the fabric, and a computer calculates the heat to simulate burns on the human body’s heated skin.
