(1) Pests and mold.
(2) Finishing agents and dyes undergo hydrolysis and oxidation due to the effects of sunlight and moisture. For example, the sulfuric acid released during dyeing with sulfur dyes can make fibers brittle.
(3) The impact of residues on fibers, such as the oxidation of residual chlorine.
(4) Fabrics turn yellow due to air oxidation, such as silk fabrics and nylon fabrics.
(5) The fabric turns yellow due to the deterioration of finishing agents such as fluorescent whitening agents.
(6) The fabric will turn yellow due to the effect of light or heat in the storage environment.
(7) Dyed fabrics fade due to dye sublimation.
(8) Fabric discoloration due to oxidation of oil agent and evaporation of residual solvent.
Since various fabrics have different degrees of impact, different influencing factors should be considered when storing different fabrics.
1. Cotton and linen clothing: They should be dried before being stored in a wardrobe or polyethylene bag, and dark and light colors should be stored separately. The wardrobe and polyethylene bag should be dry, and camphor can be placed inside (wrap it in paper and try not to come into direct contact with the clothing material) to prevent the clothes from being mothed.
2. Woolen clothing: should be placed in a dry place. When plush or plush clothing is stored mixedly, it should be wrapped in clean cloth or paper to prevent the fluff from contaminating other clothing. It is best to sun them 1 to 2 times a month to prevent insects. All kinds of woolen clothing should be hung and stored in the wardrobe. When putting the clothes in the box, put the wrong side of the clothes facing out to prevent fading, weathering and wind marks.
3. Chemical fiber clothing: This kind of clothing should be placed flat and should not be hung in the cabinet for a long time to avoid elongation due to hanging. If it is a natural fiber blended fabric, you can put a small amount of mothballs (do not come into direct contact with the clothes).
4. Leather clothing: Leather is too dry and easy to break. It is not strong when it gets wet. Therefore, leather clothing should be prevented from being overly dry and moisture-proof. Leather clothing should not be worn as a raincoat. If the leather surface is dry and cracked, you can fill the gaps with paraffin wax and iron them with an iron. If there is mold on the clothing, brush it off first and then apply leather polish.
