Although there are many waterproof fabrics on the market, none of them are as waterproof and durable as the fabric we invented.” The waterproof fabrics on the market today are all based on the so-called lotus effect principle to achieve waterproof purposes. Scientists from the Lodz University of Technology discovered after experiments that cold plasma has a repelling effect on water molecules similar to the “lotus effect”. The fabric treated with cold plasma is like a layer of wax and has hydrophobic properties. When water droplets When dropped, it will have a repelling rather than absorbing effect.”
It is understood that this new technology will only affect the molecular structure of the surface layer of the fabric without changing its internal structure. This means that warmth and comfort will not be affected once the garment is made. . Although this technology can currently only be applied to fabrics of 5 cm x 5 cm, research team member Makovsky said that jackets made using cold plasma technology may be available in the near future. While we can currently only produce small samples of waterproof fibers, our collaboration is currently developing a larger reaction machine. After the new reaction machine is successfully developed, we will be able to produce jackets made of fully waterproof fabrics.
