Summary of high temperature resistant flame retardant fiber materials

Classification:
flame retardant fabric

Compared with finishingFlame-retardant fabrics, textiles with flame-retardant properties in the fibers themselves have durable flame-retardant effects, no odor, and no Damage to flame retardant finishing agents and residues of processing aids cause fabric brittleness.

Flame-retardant fibers with inherently flame-retardant properties include aramid, aromatic heterocyclic polyamide, polybenzimidazole (PBI), polyparaphenylenebenzobioxazole (PBO), polyamide imide, Linear aromatic high-temperature flame-retardant fibers such as polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polyarylsulfone amide (PSA); thermosetting three-dimensional cross-linked fibers such as phenolic fiber and melamine fiber; using copolymer-modified acrylic fiber, flame-retardant fiber Flame retardant viscose fiber, flame retardant vinylon, flame retardant polyester, flame retardant nylon, etc. modified by agent blending. Among them, synthetic fibers modified by blended flame retardants such as flame-retardant polyester, flame-retardant nylon, and flame-retardant polypropylene have problems with melting at high temperatures, so their applications are limited. Flame-retardant viscose, flame-retardant vinylon and acrylonitrile do not cause melting problems. The disadvantages of acrylic are that it has low strength and produces more smoke when burned.

The internationally mainstream Flame-retardant fabrics have the following two classic combinations: (1) Kermel fiber using liquid coloring technology and flame-retardant adhesive Polyester is blended with a 50/50 blending ratio and is the main fabric for high-temperature flame-retardant protective clothing for European military police and firefighters; (2) Aramid 1313 pure spinning represented by Nomex or blended with flame-retardant cotton fiber (65 /35), is the main flame retardant fabric used by the US, Japan and other armies. PBI was developed by NASA in the United States and is mostly used as heat-resistant and fireproof material for aerospace sealed compartments. Because of its high moisture regain rate, it has gradually developed into a flame retardant material for fire-fighting suits, high-temperature-resistant work clothes, and flight suits.

PBO’s flame retardant properties are particularly good, its strength is nearly twice that of aramid 1414, its LOI reaches 68, and it produces almost no smoke after being heated. Aramid is one of the flame-retardant fibers independently developed and applied in my country. Its heat resistance, flame retardancy, non-melting, electrical insulation and corrosion resistance can reach or be close to Nomex fiber. It is used as filter material and motor insulation materials in my country. ,Flame-retardant protective clothing and other aspects have been promoted and applied. At present, my country has been able to produce aramid 1313, flame-retardant viscose, flame-retardant vinylon and nitrile chlorine fiber.
