Textile and garment industry: Fujian and Taiwan seek seamless integration

“The textile and garment industry is the first fabric with promising cooperation prospects between Fujian and Taiwan. This is also one of the highlights of the cross-strait textile industry negotiations at the Strait Forum to be held in Fujian next month.” Recently, came to Shishi to participate in the 12th Haibo Expo Hu Yongqin, head of the Taiwan Textile Development Association’s exhibition group, told reporters that because Taiwan’s petrochemical industry is relatively mature, the research and development of chemical fiber fabrics as the downstream of the industrial chain is also at the forefront. Enterprises are striving to use high-tech means to develop new chemical fibers. At this year’s China Maritime Expo, Taiwan’s self-developed new functional fabrics with anti-ultraviolet, anti-electromagnetic radiation, far-infrared, warmth, antibacterial, deodorant, flame retardant and many other features were favored by customers.

It is understood that the textile industry is a traditional pillar industry of our province’s national economy and an important livelihood industry. The industry currently has more than 1 million employees, and there are 2,429 textile enterprises above designated size in the province. Last year, the total industrial output value was 189.877 billion. Yuan. The province’s textile industry economic aggregate and main economic indicators rank fifth in the country. At present, our province’s chemical fiber production capacity ranks third in the country, but conventional products such as polyester and nylon account for the majority, the proportion of differentiated fibers is only about 40%, and the proportion of new man-made fibers and special functional fibers is low. The proportion of high value-added combed cotton, multi-fiber blends, and special function yarns is relatively small. Textile and garment enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, lack technological innovation capabilities.

“Therefore, the prospects for cooperation in textile fabrics between Fujian and Taiwan are promising. Fujian and Taiwan have complementary advantages and should work together to improve the technological content of clothing and open up the textile and clothing market.” Hu Yongqin said.

Everyone takes what they need

Since textiles and clothing are labor-intensive industries, the relocation of Taiwanese enterprises has become increasingly serious in recent years, resulting in a decrease in demand for textile machinery in the Taiwanese market year by year, and an increase in the proportion of textile machinery exported year by year.

Zhuo Ruirong, chairman of Xingrui Sewing Machine Co., Ltd., a leading Taiwanese textile machinery company participating in the China Maritime Expo, told reporters that on the one hand, Taiwan’s textile industry has improved its competitiveness through the research and development of new fabrics. On the other hand, due to the Labor costs are high, and automation must be used to reduce labor and costs. Therefore, Taiwan has developed rapidly in combining high-end electronic technology with advanced machinery. Environmental protection, energy saving and consumption reduction are the main development trends of textile machinery. Taking Xingrui Company as an example, it has applied for 30 patents in mainland China, including more than 10 invention patents. The electromechanical integration and direct drive servo micro motor design patented by 6 countries avoids the loss of motor idling and saves 30% of energy compared with traditional sewing machines.

In recent years, the level of technical equipment in our province has been rapidly improving. A large number of water-jet, air-jet, rapier and other shuttleless looms, high-performance knitting machines, high-efficiency and energy-saving dyeing and finishing production lines have been introduced. Add or introduce spunlace, needle punch, spunbond and other nonwoven production lines. The garment industry has introduced a large number of new equipment such as clothing sewing and ironing, as well as new devices such as CAD/CAM electronic information series, and the level of automation has been continuously improved. Although the level of Taiwan’s textile machinery is not comparable to that of world-class countries such as Germany and Italy, the price is only half of that. Therefore, the introduction of Taiwan’s advanced textile machinery, including attracting it to invest and set up factories, is of great significance to improving the level of textile and garment mechanization in our province and improving our province’s textile and garment industry chain.

Achieve win-win situation

After my country’s accession to the WTO, driven by the export and domestic demand markets, various economic indicators of our province’s textile industry have continued to maintain a growth rate of more than 25%, and the industrial structure, economic benefits and operational quality have continued to change and improve. .

Lin Lei, deputy secretary-general of the Provincial Textile and Garment Industry Association, said that a number of textile industry clusters and agglomeration effects featuring the regional economy of cities, counties, and towns, dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises, have gradually formed. So far, the textile and garment industry cluster pilot areas awarded by the China Textile and Apparel Industry Association in our province include: Jinjiang and Changle, two Chinese textile base cities, Shishi leisure clothing characteristic city, and 12 textile and garment characteristic towns.

The brand advantages of casual men’s clothing, formal clothing, down, children’s clothing and other clothing with our province’s characteristics in the domestic market are constantly improving. As of 2019, 15 items including Septwolves casual wear, Qipai suits, Jinba men’s wear, Lilang Gage T-shirts, Fengzhu knitted fabrics, Jiumuwang pants, Hudu pants, Caizi shirts, and Jialisi bedding have won the “Chinese Famous Brand” The brand has won more than 30 “China Famous” trademarks, more than 20 “China Inspection-Free” products, more than 100 “Fujian Famous Brands” and more than 130 “Fujian Famous Trademarks”.

Huang Weiji, secretary-general of the Taiwan Textile Development Association, believes that Fujian’s textile and clothing industry chain is becoming increasingly complete. Only with such conditions, Taiwan-funded enterprises are willing to invest, otherwise the cost will be too high; Fujian’s clothing brands have a certain influence across the country. , Taiwan’s fabric companies are also willing to cooperate with such companies. In the next step, in addition to hoping to introduce mainland clothing brands to the island, we also hope that both sides of the Taiwan Strait will join forces to promote Chinese clothing brands.
