Ukraine will cancel the 13% additional import tariff on textiles and clothing
Ukrainian Prime Minister Tymoshenko revealed that the country’s government will consider amending the current tax law at the next meeting and will abolish the 13% additional import tariff on goods imported into Ukraine.
According to Ms. Tymoshenko, the draft law will be sent to the Legislative Council over the weekend, and she explained that additional tariffs on imported goods are not consistent with commitments to the WTO.
She also believes that unless Ukraine removes import tariffs, other countries can impose export restrictions on Ukrainian goods, which may result in the door to Ukrainian exports being closed.
The products that will eliminate the 13% import tariff include carpets, knitted fabrics, clothing, bed sheets, footwear and hats. She said some countries have expressed their opinions and dissatisfaction with the additional import tariffs.
