It is generally impossible and unnecessary to dye PTT and PET with the same apparent dyeing depth (K/S value). Experts believe that this will not prevent PTT/PET blended fabrics from achieving the same color effect.

PTT fiber and PET fiber are both polyester fibers. They can only be dyed with disperse dyes, while PTT has better dyeability. During the dyeing process of PTT/PET blended fabrics, even if various measures are taken to dye PTT and PET to the same apparent dyeing depth (K/S value), it is generally impossible and unnecessary, but this will not Prevent PTT/PET blended fabrics from obtaining the same color effect. The flash-colored polyester textiles on the market are dyed by PET/CDPET interwoven fabrics with disperse dyes and salt-based dyes (or cationic dyes). Now they can be replaced by PTT/PET interwoven fabrics. . That is, a combination of red, yellow and blue disperse dyes with different energy levels is used, using a one-bath and two-step process. First, high-temperature dyeing is used to dye PTT and PET evenly, and then low-temperature dyeing is used to make the disperse dye mainly dye on the PTT, thereby obtaining products with high sunlight fastness.

There is no doubt that the dye fastness of blended fabrics is equal to that of single fiber fabrics. The dye fastness of PTT/PET blended fabrics is guaranteed. Although it is much easier to dye PTT with disperse dyes, the dye fastness on PTT and PET is very similar, which is consistent with previous research results. The staining of nylon by dyed PTT is about half a level lower than that of PET. This may be because the dyeing depth of PTT is deeper than that of PET under the same dyeing conditions.
