Bulletproof materials achieve “Made in China”
“The strength is 6 times that of steel wire, and the “ace fiber” para-aramid, which can achieve bulletproof effect in body armor, helicopters, vehicles and ships, has been “Made in China”. Reporters learned from Donghua University yesterday that the school’s Modern Textile Research Institute has successfully overcome the technical difficulties of “bulletproof material” aramid. The school has joined forces with several companies to conduct a pilot study on the manufacturing of para-aramid fiber with an annual output of 100 tons. “The project has passed technical appraisal, indicating that my country’s body armor manufacturing will be expected to use independently produced para-aramid fiber.
Aramid is the preferred material for body armor. Compared with traditional steel helmets, the helmets made of aramid have an expanded protective area, improved bulletproof performance, and are 20%-30% lighter in weight. They have excellent comfort, stability, and isolation. It has obvious advantages in thermal properties. In addition, para-aramid is widely used in industry, aviation, clothing and other fields.
