Myanmar’s garment exports hit new highs
According to “Myanmar Weekly”, the ready-made garments processed by various industrial zones in Yangon, Myanmar in recent months have been mainly sold to Japan and South Korea. Many garment manufacturers said that compared with the previous three years, the market situation has been very hot in recent months. There were too many orders, so we had to work overtime to produce, and a large number of skilled workers were needed. It is said that if the market can be further expanded, Myanmar’s garment processing and exports will be promoted to a new level. If entering the U.S. market is more profitable, the U.S. does not have strict requirements for the quality of ready-made garments. Entering the European market is profitable, but the quality requirements are extremely high. At present, the quality of ready-made garments entering Japan needs to be improved, and the profits are pretty good. The quality and profit of the ready-made garments imported into South Korea are average.
Various garment factories in Yangon have recently been competing to recruit skilled workers. Some factories have raised wages, some have offered high salaries to poach workers, and some have provided workers with skills-strengthening training, etc. The supply of skilled workers exceeds the demand. The main method of processing the above-mentioned garments is to import raw materials from China, Indonesia and other countries, and export the garments to Japan, South Korea, etc.
