The polypropylene unit of Baling Petrochemical Rubber Department is producing medical mask materials at full capacity
Starting from February 17, the Baling Petrochemical Rubber Department’s polypropylene unit with an annual output of 55,000 tons has adjusted its production plan and arranged for two kettles to be switched on to produce medical mask materials. Full support Wuhan fights the epidemic and fulfills the responsibilities of state-owned enterprises.
Affected by the epidemic, masks are in short supply on the market, and the melt-blown polypropylene (PP)non-woven fabric used in the middle layer of the masks is even more in short supply. Melt-blown PP non-woven fabrics are produced from high-melt index polypropylene. The high-melt index PP material 320 grade produced by the polypropylene unit of Baling Petrochemical Rubber Department can be used for downstream production of melt-blown PP non-woven fabrics. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, most downstream companies have not resumed production. Baling Petrochemical is actively paying attention to the production recovery information of downstream companies and making production preparations in advance.
On February 16, the Rubber Department of Baling Petrochemical learned that the melt-blown PP material of a domestic modified plastics giant company was officially put into production. The melt-blown PP non-woven fabrics produced by this company are supplied to many medical companies, including 33 in Hubei. enterprise. The Rubber Department immediately communicated with the Wuhan sales department of this company and planned to supply 60 tons of medical mask material products every day to relieve the market pressure on melt-blown PP non-woven fabrics and help fight the epidemic.
The polypropylene unit of the rubber department usually produces products with low melting index. The melting index of medical mask material products is higher, the amount of hydrogenation is significantly increased, and production control is more difficult. In order to improve the pass rate of melt finger control and achieve a stable transition, the management and technical personnel of the device are on duty 24 hours a day, increase the frequency of product analysis, track the melt finger control situation, and employees at production positions adjust the hydrogenation amount in a timely manner.
It is understood that the company’s polypropylene plant is currently producing medical mask materials smoothly. On February 18, it added two more kettles to increase production. After the system stabilizes, it can stably supply more than 60 tons of medical mask materials every day.
