Pakistan’s textile exports in this fiscal year may be lower than in the previous fiscal year
According to Pakistan’s “News” report, a report recently released by the State Bank of Pakistan (Central Bank) stated that due to the severe shortage of energy supply and the economic recession in the euro zone, the 2011-12 fiscal year (July 2011 to 2012 June) Pakistan’s textile exports may be lower than the previous fiscal year.
The Central Bank of Pakistan reported that Pakistan’s textile export volume and export value in October and November 2011 were lower than the same period last year. In the first few months of the 2011-12 fiscal year, Pakistan’s various textile exports to the United States and the European Union have also experienced a significant decline. If this trend continues, Pakistan’s textile exports this fiscal year will be lower than the previous fiscal year.
In the 2010-11 fiscal year, Pakistan’s textile exports reached US$13.805 billion, an increase of approximately 35% from US$10.22 billion in the 2009-10 fiscal year. In the first five months of the 2011-12 fiscal year, Pakistan’s textile exports reached US$5.02 billion, a decrease of 1.3% from US$5.08 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
