Health Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese-made girls’ sweaters

On April 27, 2012, Health Canada and MexxCanadaCo. jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made Mexx brand girls’ sweaters.

There are two types of girls’ sweaters recalled this time. The product model is K1RC8251, one is purple (581), and the specifications are 3-6M, 6-9M, 9-12M, 12-18M, 18-24M, 24-30M, SKU codes are 4216410, 4216420, 4216430, 4216440, 4216450, 4216460; the other one is pink (672 or 502,), the specifications are 3-6M, 6-9M, 9-12M, 12-18M, 18 -24M, 24-30M, SKU codes are 3436210, 3436220, 3436230, 3436240, 3436250, 3436260. The SKU code is marked on the shopping receipt. The sweater was sold in Canada from August 2011 to March 2012.

The number of products recalled this time is approximately 1,521. The reason for the recall is that the decorative yarn balls sewn on the front of the sweater are easy to fall off, posing a choking hazard to children if put in their mouths. To date, neither Health Canada nor MexxCanadaCo. have received any reports of incidents.

To this end, Health Canada recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled sweaters, remove the yarn balls to eliminate the danger, or contact the retail store for a return and a full refund.
