The third phase of the Canton Fair opens, and orders from foreign trade companies such as shoes and clothing are worrying
The third phase of the 111th Canton Fair opened on the 1st, mainly exhibiting textiles, clothing, footwear, pharmaceuticals and other products. The reporter learned from interviews that as traditional export markets such as Europe and the United States continue to shrink, orders from foreign trade companies participating in the exhibition are worrying.
The European and American markets of this Canton Fair are “very cold”. In the first phase of the Canton Fair that ended previously, the European and American turnover of mechanical and electrical products fell sharply by more than 30%. At the third phase of the Canton Fair, the export situation of foreign trade companies such as shoes and clothing, which also have Europe and the United States as their main export markets, is not optimistic.
Zhejiang Xinda Group participated in the exhibition and told reporters that the current international market demand is shrinking, and the rising raw material and labor costs in mainland China have weakened the price advantage of clothing exports. “Some European and American merchants have transferred orders to Vietnam, Cambodia and other places. As a result, the company’s orders have shrunk by 30% this year.”
The export situation of footwear products is also worrying. In the first quarter of this year, China’s footwear exports reached US$9.08 billion, an increase of only 2.8%. Shoe company exhibitors who came to participate in the Canton Fair said that due to the sluggish external demand, their company’s order volume has also declined. This year’s order situation is hardly optimistic. At present, the company has increased its efforts to contact old customers, hoping to leverage on years of experience. Brand reputation maintains market share.
The reporter learned from interviews that in order to seek greater living space, many foreign trade companies have improved their product design levels and strive to explore emerging markets. In order to help foreign trade companies break through, this Canton Fair also arranged activities such as international seminars on design innovation, inviting authoritative experts to discuss and exchange ideas with foreign trade companies.
