The cotton fluffing period in most cotton areas of Bole is expected to be 3 to 5 days later than normal
The fluffing period is an important period for cotton to increase fall peaches, boll weight, clothing content and fiber quality. From August 22 to 24, the Meteorological Bureau of Bole City organized professional and technical personnel to go deep into cotton areas such as Utubulague Town and Dallet Town to check the growth and development status of cotton. Based on the weather and climate characteristics, the agro-meteorological conditions since cotton bloomed were analyzed. , scientifically predict the cotton fluffing period.
1. Analysis of cotton growth and development conditions
According to the analysis of cotton meteorological monitoring data in Bole City: Cotton in most cotton areas enters the flowering period in early to mid-July. Compared with normal years, the peak flowering period is close to normal years. At present, cotton in most Bole cotton areas is in the late flowering stage.
2. Analysis of meteorological conditions during the flowering and boll period
During the flowering and boll period (July 1st to August 15th), the average temperature is 25.4℃, 1.8℃ higher than normal and 1.6℃ higher than last year. In July, two large-scale high-temperature weather processes occurred in the Bole area (July 1-9, 23-27). Among them, the number of high-temperature days ≥35℃ lasted for 8 days, the number of high-temperature days ≥38℃ lasted for 1 day, and the number of high-temperature days lasted for 8 days. More than normal and last year; precipitation close to normal or less; sunshine hours less. Long-lasting high temperature weather is not conducive to cotton flowering and boll formation. During the flowering period until August 15, the accumulated temperature of ≥10℃ is higher than normal. The heat is relatively sufficient, which to a certain extent makes up for the impact of insufficient heat conditions in the early growth period, which is beneficial to accelerating the growth and development process of cotton and advancing the fluffing period.
3. Prediction results of the flocculation period
It is estimated that in 2021, the cotton fluffing period will be from late early to early mid-September, and most cotton areas in Bole will be 3 to 5 days later than normal.
IV. Weather forecast during the cotton fluffing period
From early to mid-September, cotton in the Bole area is in a critical period for cotton wool. During this period, the temperature in Bole areas was 0.5 to 0.9°C lower; the precipitation was 10 to 30% higher than normal. There will be three moderate to weak or above precipitation weather processes affecting the Bole area, mainly: September 3 to 5, moderate weather processes; September 8 to 10, September 16 to 18, moderate to weak weather processes , mainly affecting mountainous and western areas.
5. Climate trend prediction and impact
It is expected that in early and mid-September, temperatures in various parts of Bole will be low or slightly lower; precipitation will be more than normal; and sunshine hours will be less. From a comprehensive analysis, the overall meteorological conditions have some impact on the growth and development of cotton during the fluffing period, and the development period is delayed by 3 to 5 days.
