Hengshui: Cotton growth indicators have dropped year-on-year and yields are expected to decrease
On August 24-25, the Hebei Hengshui Monitoring Station of the National Cotton Market Monitoring System conducted on-site research on the local cotton growth situation in August 2021 in Jizhou District, Zaoqiang County, Hebei and other places.
The survey results show that due to the influence of previous rainfall, some local cotton fields have accumulated water, some Fuchian peaches (bottom peaches) have turned black and moldy, flower buds have fallen off, and cotton plants have prematurely aged, and some linted cotton has turned into rain-embroidered cotton. A local cotton farmer said that the current average cotton fruiting branches are 8.6 per plant, a decrease of 1.4 per plant compared with the same period last year, and a year-on-year decrease of 13.85%; the average budding branches are 8.1 per plant, a decrease of 1.5 per plant compared with the same period last year, and a year-on-year decrease of 16.19%. ; The average number of bolls is 18.0 per plant, a decrease of 2.8 per plant compared with the same period last year, and a year-on-year decrease of 13.48%. Based on the analysis of the above indicators, if the weather is normal in September, the local seed cotton yield in 2021 is expected to be 480-490 kilograms/mu, a decrease of 7.4% from the previous year.
“New flowers appear on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month.” Based on the current cotton growth situation, it is expected that cotton picking this year will be about 7 days later than normal. As for the opening price, affected by factors such as the reduction in cotton sown area today and the sharp fluctuations in cotton prices and spot market prices, the expected psychological price of seed cotton sold by local cotton farmers is generally 4.00-4.20 yuan/jin.
At present, the main tasks of cotton farmers are: first, to try their best to remove stagnant water in cotton fields; second, to remove old leaves and dead branches to improve ventilation conditions; third, to spray foliar fertilizer to increase fertility, and occasionally spray metropamine to control Cotton plants grow wildly, improve the boll setting rate and normal development of cotton bolls, strive to stabilize yields and reduce losses.
