Weft insertion mechanism water pump

(1) The structure of the water pump
The water pump is the most important device in the weft insertion mechanism. Its basic structure is shown in Figure 3-2.

When the cam turns from a small radius to a large radius, the coupling rod 5 is driven to the left by the pump cam rod, compressing the water pump spring 3 and forming a negative pressure inside the water pump. The inlet check valve 6 Open, the outlet check valve 7 is closed, and water is sucked into the water pump from the pontoon box. When the cam suddenly drops from a large radius to a small radius, due to the action of the water pump spring 3, the water pump plunger 2 quickly moves to the right, and the pressure directly acts on the water column sucked into the water pump. At this time, the inlet check valve 6 is closed, and the outlet The one-way valve 7 is opened, the water is pressed out from the water pump, and then sprayed out through the nozzle of the water outlet pipe.
(2) Water pump valve
The water pump valve and the water pump body are integrated. The inlet check valve 6 is connected to the water inlet pipe, and the outlet check valve 7 is connected to the water outlet pipe. These connections must be tightly connected without water or air leakage. Otherwise, when the loom is running, the pump valve ball will move irregularly and the water volume will be unstable, causing short weft defects.
(3) Water pump stroke
The amount of water sprayed from the nozzle depends on the water pump stroke and plunger diameter. The commonly used range of motion is 10~12mm. The greater the cam stroke of the water pump, the more water will be discharged by the water pump; the plunger diameters are 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, 26mm, 28mm, etc. On wide-width looms, a diameter of 30mm is used to ensure sufficient water volume and smoothly guide the weft yarn to the end.
(4) Water pump pressure
The pressure of the water pump mainly depends on the diameter and K value of the water pump spring and plunger. The diameter of the water pump spring and plunger is determined by factors such as the type of raw material, effective width, and loom rotation speed. At present, the steel wire diameters of water pump springs commonly used on water-jet looms are 8.5mm, 9mm, 9.5mm, and 10mm, and the plunger diameters are 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, and 24mm. On the newly developed water-jet loom with an effective width of 3500mm, the plunger diameter has reached 40mm. The size of the K value is set by the rotating spring back cap 4 according to the flying condition of the weft when the loom is actually running. The relationship between water pump pressure and K value, plunger diameter, and water pump spring is shown in Figure 3-3.
