Xinhe: Cotton has entered the fluffing period and pre-harvest management is still important
Recently, cotton in Xinhe County, Xinjiang has gradually entered the linting period. On the 29th, agricultural technicians from the Xinhe County Meteorological Bureau went to the cotton fields to conduct cotton surveys and found that cotton plants have been cracking bolls and linting, and the boll cracking rate is only 3 %. Because the quality of cotton management in the later stage will directly affect the yield and quality of cotton, agricultural technicians from the Xinhe County Meteorological Bureau provide farmers with cotton field management measures in the later stage of boll cracking.
In September, cotton is in the boll-breaking and fluffing period. The closer to the later stage of cotton growth, the more important field management is. Therefore, Xinhe County agricultural technicians suggest that in the later stage of cotton fields, pruning, fertilizer supplementation, insect control and disease prevention should be done in a timely manner. Only by removing weeds and other field management measures in the field can we achieve stable and high cotton yields. Because pruning can improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions of cotton fields, clear weeds in the field in time, increase light transmittance, and reduce nutrient consumption, it is beneficial to increase autumn peaches, increase boll weight, promote early maturity, and prevent boll rot; at the same time, the root absorption capacity of cotton plants is weakened in the later period. In order to supplement the insufficient absorption of nutrients by the roots, external top dressing can be used to supplement nutrients. Secondly, there are many sudden diseases and insect pests after the flocculation period, which must be prevented and controlled in time. Thereby improving the cotton boll maturity and fluffing rate, ensuring an increase in cotton income and production.
Regarding the weather, Xinhe County will be mainly sunny to cloudy in the next three days, with thundershowers from afternoon to night, with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, northerly gusts of level 4-5, and outlet winds of level 5-6. The temperature does not change much; the relative humidity is 40-60%. The climate conditions in Xinhe County will have little impact on cotton in the next three days. The average temperature will remain at 30-31 degrees Celsius. The rainfall is predicted to be small, which will not have a serious impact on cotton fluffing.
