The International Textile Manufacturers Federation Board of Directors video conference was held in Beijing
On August 31, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (hereinafter referred to as: International Textile Federation) board of directors video conference was held at 18:00 Beijing time. Members of the International Textile Federation’s Board of Directors and former Chairman attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Sun Ruizhe, Chairman of the International Textile Federation and President of the China Textile Industry Federation.
In his opening speech at the conference, Sun Ruizhe said that the current global economy is still under the influence of a series of uncertain factors, including: the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, extreme weather, food crises, geopolitical crises and economic growth Slow down. The world needs to strengthen unity, rebuild confidence, and work hard to promote the recovery and stability of the global economy.
Sun Ruizhe pointed out that at present, the industry’s work should focus on three key areas:
First, strengthen international cooperation in fighting the epidemic and jointly promote economic recovery.
Last year’s supply chain disruptions prompted some governments to take steps to “return manufacturing” as part of economic stimulus packages, a move that could backfire as cross-border trade networks and investment can reduce costs and promote mutual learning and product innovation. .
At present, efforts should be made to improve the competition and cooperation environment, actively eliminate trade barriers and discriminatory regulations, optimize decision-making mechanisms and procurement processes, strengthen global cooperation and multilateral coordination, and jointly maintain global supply chain and industry security.
Second, pursue inclusive and sustainable development.
The COVID-19 epidemic has had a profound impact on the global response to climate change and promoted the sustainable development agenda. On the one hand, companies are integrating sustainability into their operations and products through methods such as setting internal carbon reduction targets, developing innovative green products, advocating for sustainability standards, and integrating into the circular economy. On the other hand, government departments are working hard to restart various economic activities in a green development manner. Corporate social responsibility can play a key role for our industry in combating climate change.
Third, fully rely on technological innovation.
The COVID-19 epidemic has objectively accelerated the adoption of digital tools and big data methods. Virtual technology and multi-channel shared communication enable us to hold online or online and offline conference activities like today – to interact effectively and stay connected across geographical restrictions. Changing customer demands, more online purchases, moving assets to the cloud, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in business decisions are reshaping every industry. These changes will continue throughout the epidemic period and should be of great concern.
While digital technologies are bringing useful innovations and improving our lives, they are also creating new challenges in business ethics, social, economic and legal aspects. We must do more to improve digital trust and improve accountability in the digital world.
At the meeting, Sun Ruizhe also introduced the current operation of China’s textile industry in the first half of the year, and discussed the participants’ views on my country’s industry export, foreign investment, production capacity expansion and international transportation costs. We have responded positively to the concerns and doubts about the price increase and other aspects, and while candidly explaining doubts, we have built consensus and boosted the confidence and strength of the recovery of the global textile industry.
