Jiangsu: Strengthen quality supervision of silkworm seeds to ensure the safety of sericulture “chips”
Silkworm seedquality is the foundation of the sericulture cocoonsilk industry chain. In order to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of silkworm seed producers and operators and the interests of the majority of sericulture farmers, and ensure the safety of rural sericulture production, in accordance with the work deployment of the “2021 Jiangsu Province Seed Industry Supervision and Law Enforcement Year Activities Implementation Plan” and the “Jiangsu Province Silkworm Seed Management Measures” According to the requirements, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will conduct random inspections of autumn silkworm seeds in the province from August to September 2021, and report the random inspection results.
Judging from the overall situation, the 18 batches of first-generation hybrids produced by 13 silkworm breeding farms sampled this time basically cover the main varieties and all first-generation hybrid production units in the sericulture producing areas of Jiangsu Province. The quality inspection of silkworm seeds is entrusted to the Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Zhenjiang) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to be carried out in accordance with the “Inspection Procedures for Silkworm First Generation Hybrids” (NY/T 327-1997) and “Silkworm First Generation Hybrids” (NY 326 -1997) for quality inspection and result determination. The appearance and packaging of the 18 batches of autumn-use first-generation hybrids that were randomly inspected all met the requirements of the standard. All 18 batches of finished eggs of first generation hybrids for autumn use were tested for egg rate of microparticle disease. No microspores were detected in any batches, and all finished eggs were qualified.
The notification requires that silkworm seed management departments at all levels should strengthen quality supervision, strengthen guidance services, and establish and improve the silkworm seed quality supervision and management system in the region as soon as possible. All silkworm seed production units must strengthen quality awareness, strictly produce according to standards and regulations, strengthen technical training, strictly implement technical operating specifications throughout the production process, and make every effort to ensure that the quality of silkworm seeds meets standards and effectively ensure the safety of seed use.
