On September 12, seed cotton picking has begun in Tangshan, Hebei. It is understood that the local harvest time this year is about 10 days later than the same period last year. At present, the quantity of seed cotton picked is small, mainly stiff-flap cotton. It is expected that sporadic picking will start this week (September 13-19).
Since seed cotton picking has just begun, cotton brokers have not yet gone to the countryside to purchase. It is understood that local cotton companies will start purchasing on the 16th and 17th. Affected by more rainfall and cloudy weather this year, cottonquality is slightly worse. Judging from the cotton picked so far, the quality is lower than the same period last year. Although the quality of new cotton is not as good as in previous years, cotton farmers have higher expectations, which has led to a wait-and-see attitude among cotton companies when opening weighing scales. Most cotton companies said they are not in a hurry to open weighing scales. It is expected that as the amount of seed cotton harvested gradually increases, cotton companies will follow their own standards. It is planned to open the scales one after another, and the opening time of the scales may be uneven among cotton enterprises.
