On the same day, the China Cotton Association and China Jinnuo Certification Company launched the “China Cotton” project review and certification work in Luntai County, Yuli County and other places in the Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. This work uses a combination of document review and on-site audit. About 50,000 acres of farms will be audited on-site in advance.
As one of the first six production-side contract companies of the “China Cotton” project, Lu Huaiyu, head of Xinjiang Guoxin Seed Industry Co., Ltd., said that this year, the company’s more than 70,000 acres of self-owned breeding farms will be in accordance with the “China Cotton” project Production and planting are carried out according to production management standards. By practicing the project concept of “environmentally friendly, high quality, respecting labor, and full traceability”, we are reducing pollution, energy saving and emission reduction, and respecting labor. , make improvements to improve quality.
Li Lin, deputy secretary-general of the China Cotton Association, said that after passing the audit and certification, the lint cotton produced by it is expected to enter the circulation and textile links as the first batch of “Chinese sustainable cotton” , and ultimately delivered to consumers through brands and retailers. In the future, using and consuming sustainable cotton throughout the industry chain and creating a virtuous cycle will be the key for my country’s cotton industry to implement new development concepts and promote sustainable development.
In April this year, the China Cotton Association released the “Chinese Cotton” Production Management Standards, launched the “China Cotton” sustainable development project, and explored the establishment of the first Chinese independent cotton standard system. Xinjiang Guoxin Seed Industry Co., Ltd. and other six large key enterprises in the industry signed the “Production-side Cooperation Agreement for the “China Cotton” Sustainable Development Project” with the China Cotton Association.
