Guangdong Province is a major province in the domestic medical and health care textile industry and one of the important export bases. Its industrial scale and grade rank among the top in the country. The medical protective textile industry in Guangdong Province covers materials, medical (civilian)masks, protective clothing, isolation gowns, surgical gowns, surgical drapes, surgical bags, etc. Since last year, a number of enterprises have emerged in eastern, central, western and northern Guangdong that have switched to producing protective clothing, masks and non-woven fabrics substrates.

However, traditional medical textiles are only white coats, (doctor, nurse) caps, masks, hospital gowns, etc., which are difficult to achieve the “three-repellent and one-resistance” (i.e. water-repellent, blood-repellent, alcohol-repellent and anti-static) properties Basic standard requirements; new medical textiles have high filterability against bacteria and dust.

Participating experts pointed out that with the development and spread of the global new coronavirus epidemic and the continuous mutation of the virus, the shortcomings of our medical textile industry have been exposed: the epidemic and public safety have put forward higher requirements for the standards and functions of anti-epidemic protective equipment; There is still a serious shortage of high-tech and high-performance medical textiles, and our industry is actually still in its infancy; health care textiles show more functional and intelligent characteristics.

In view of the weaknesses and shortcomings in the medical textile industry chain in Guangdong Province, academicians and experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering introduced the forward-looking development trends and technical requirements for medical protective textiles at home and abroad; well-known professors from Donghua University and experts from the chemical fiber industry introduced medical textiles The development and market application of new functional materials; experts from the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed the requirements and issues in terms of hospital safety, standards, specifications and licensing.

The “Guangdong Province Medical Protective Textile Industry Chain Status and Development Strategy Report” was released at the forum. The report proposes the direction and goals of improving the medical and health care textile industry chain in Guangdong Province, and establishes industry scientific research and innovation institutions and five key projects: the foundation and quality improvement project, the industrial agglomeration project, the standard strong chain project, Talentguarantee projects and public service quality and efficiency improvement projects. At the same time, we propose ways and methods to make up for links and weaknesses in the collaborative innovation of “government, school, research, practice, enterprise and business”.
