After being exposed to blue light, clothing made of genetically modified silk appears fluorescent green through an orange filter. Experts approved the experimental breeding of transgenic silkworms after assessing their impact on the environment. Genetically modified silkworms have also become the first genetically modified organism in Japan to be raised by ordinary farmers.
