The cotton picking machine harvests 30 acres in one hour, which is the first time in Hengshui City, Hebei Province
On the morning of November 22, the cotton fields in the south of Xinzhuang Village, Jizhou Town, Jizhou District, Hengshui were crowded with people and machines roared. An on-site observation meeting for cotton mechanical harvesting in Hengshui City was held here. At the observation site, the cotton picking machine completed picking cotton from an acre of cotton field in only two or three minutes, with a picking rate of 95%, which greatly saved manual picking time and cost, and was unanimously recognized by everyone.
The purpose of this observation meeting is to promote the sustainable development of Hengshui City’s cotton industry, accelerate the process of full-process mechanization of cotton management, and demonstrate the demonstration effect of full-process mechanization of machine-picked cotton. Experts related to the provincial cotton industry technology system, relevant persons in charge of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, relevant experts from the Dryland Agriculture Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, agricultural and rural bureaus of major cotton planting counties, representatives of seed industry enterprises, heads of new cotton business entities, and large cotton planting households More than 40 people were invited to participate.
Wu Zhenliang, a cotton planting expert at the Dryland Agriculture Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, said that at this stage, Hengshui City’s cotton production methods are still relatively backward. The labor costs of cotton production account for more than half of the total production costs, of which more than 50% of the labor costs used in cotton production are used. Regarding cotton picking, these unfavorable factors have led to a year-by-year decline in cotton planting area and benefits in Hengshui City in recent years. The promotion of mechanized cotton planting has become the fundamental way out for cotton development.
It is understood that the cotton fields where mechanical harvesting is carried out belong to Hebei Runrong Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. Runrong Company cooperated with the Dryland Agriculture Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences to establish the Hengshui Simplified Water Saving Experiment Promotion Station and a full cotton mechanization demonstration base, specializing in planting a new cotton variety “Hengmian HD008” that is drought-resistant and salt-tolerant and easy to be harvested by machine, with a core demonstration of 30 acres. , the whole process of mechanized management from sowing, pruning, pest control to harvesting can save about 15 labor per mu of land.
With the roar of the cotton picker, the participants walked into the cotton field, carefully observed the harvesting effect of the cotton picker, calculated the loss rate of cotton machine picking, learned the mechanized management process of the demonstration field, and exchanged their work experience and practices. It has been estimated that mechanical cotton picking can complete 25-30 acres per hour, which is equivalent to the workload of 500 flower pickers. It not only increases yields but also saves cotton production costs and improves production efficiency.
Cheng Hongqi, the person in charge of the demonstration field, told reporters that due to the impact of this year’s rain, the cotton grown manually can usually harvest 550 kilograms of cotton per mu, while the demonstration field can reach 600 kilograms per mu, and mechanized harvesting saves costs per mu compared with normal manual harvesting. At about 200 yuan, the effect of improving quality, increasing efficiency and reducing costs is obvious.
