Jiashi: Spring sowing of new cotton is in progress and early sown seedlings have sprouted
The new cotton sowing work in Xinjiang is proceeding in an orderly manner. In order to understand the local spring sowing situation, the reporter conducted a survey on the spring sowing situation in Jiashi, Xinjiang.
Cotton farmers interviewed in Jiashi County said that 80 acres of hand-picked cotton will be planted this year, 40 acres less than last year. Spring cotton sowing began on March 20 this year. Rainy weather occurred during the period, which delayed the sowing progress. The sowing was not completed until the end of March. The current main work is to lay drip irrigation tapes and prepare for watering and fertilization. It is expected that the fertilization work will gradually begin in mid-May. At present, cotton seeds sown early have emerged one after another. Judging from the growth situation, the current plant height of cotton seedlings is about 2 centimeters.
The cotton farmer’s group farm held a field management meeting on April 17 to mainly arrange the next work and matters that need to be paid attention to when sowing. So far, the local sowing rate has been 80% completed, and it is expected that the sowing work will be completed by the end of the month.
