More than half of Vietnam’s imported fabrics come from China
According to Vietnam’s “Economic Times” report on April 4, Vietnam’s General Administration of Customs stated that in 2015, Vietnam imported US$10.1 billion in fabrics, a year-on-year increase of 8%. Among them, imports from China were US$5.22 billion, accounting for 51.7%.
According to reports, at the 26th Textile Machinery, Equipment and Raw Materials Exhibition held last week, 1,066 companies from 24 countries and regions participated, including 750 companies from China. The exhibition organizing committee said that most of the Chinese-funded companies participating in the exhibition were mainly interested in taking advantage of the opportunities brought by the TPP. The person in charge of the Vietnam Textile Group said that currently, 70% of Vietnam’s textile raw materials rely on imports, and most of them are imported from China.
