Peruvian apparel exports to the United States resume growth
Although Peru’s overall manufacturing exports fell by 18% year-on-year from January to February 2016, Peru’s apparel exports to the United States reached US$97.2 million, an increase of 1% compared with the same period last year. According to the analysis of the Peruvian Exporters Association, the recovery growth of Peruvian clothing exports to the United States is mainly due to the improvement of the U.S. economic situation and the increase in demand. From January to February 2016, 70% of Peruvian clothing exports were exported to the United States.
From April 20 to 23, the Peruvian Ministry of Trade and Tourism, the Peruvian Economic Promotion Agency and the Lima Chamber of Commerce will hold a large-scale Peruvian fashion event. Peru will start to build its own fashion industry, improve its competitiveness from fashion design and quality aspects, and expand foreign exports.
