-National yarn export overview
According to China Customs statistics, the national yarn import and export volume from January to March 2016 was 1.627 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2%; the import and export volume was US$4.19 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 15%. Among them, the export value was US$2.5 billion, down 7.3%; the average export unit price was US$2.44/kg, down 15.6% year-on-year. The import value was US$1.69 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 24.3%; the average import unit price was US$2.8/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 6%.
1. In March, the export value of wool animal hair yarn, chemical fiber yarn and silk thread all increased, while the export value of cotton yarn decreased.
The export value of woolen animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn increased, reaching US$97.096 million and US$600 million, a year-on-year increase of 0.9% and 13.2%. Among them, the export of silk yarn increased most significantly, with an export value of US$15.235 million, a year-on-year increase of 61.5%; the export of cotton yarn was US$150 million, a decrease of 0.4%.
2. From January to March 2016, exports to the EU increased, while exports to ASEAN, Japan, North America and Latin America decreased.
From January to March 2016, the Asian market accounted for 68.3% of my country’s yarn exports, with export value reaching US$1.04 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 7.6%, but the decline was narrower than the previous month. Exports to ASEAN decreased by 1.8%. Exports to Indonesia, Cambodia and the Philippines increased, with exports of US$70 million, US$50 million and US$30 million respectively, representing increases of 4.5%, 14.3% and 21.9% respectively. There was a decrease in exports to Vietnam, with exports of US$170 million, a decrease of 8.4%.
From January to March, China’s yarn exports to Hong Kong were US$290 million, a decrease of 25.8%. Exports to South Asian countries Pakistan and Bangladesh increased by 1.8% and 3.2% respectively. From January to March, China’s yarn exports to Japan were US$90 million, a decrease of 6.4%.
Exports to the EU increased, with exports amounting to US$270 million, an increase of 0.8%. Although it is not high, it is the first increase in a year and deserves attention. Exports to North America declined, with export value reaching US$130 million, a decrease of 19.3%. Exports to Latin America declined by 10.7%.
3. Among the major exporting provinces and cities, Fujian’s exports have increased.
Coastal provinces are the main force in yarn exports. Among the top ten export provinces and cities from January to March, only Fujian showed growth, with an increase of 3.5%. Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong, and Fujian are among the top five, all exceeding US$100 million.
4. The export unit price of wool animal hair yarn has increased, while the export unit price of silk thread, cotton yarn and chemical fiber yarn has declined.
From January to March 2016, the export unit price of wool animal hair yarn increased, reaching 32.22 US dollars/kg, an increase of 7.2%; the export unit price of silk thread, cotton yarn and chemical fiber yarn was 37.43 US dollars/kg and 4.67 US dollars. /kg and US$2.14/kg, down 9.1%, 3.3% and 17.3% respectively.
