According to China Customs statistics, the national fabric import and export volume from January to May 2016 was 17.45 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%, and the import and export volume was US$23.88 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. Among them, the export quantity was 16.4 billion meters, an increase of 8.8%; the export value was US$21.66 billion, an increase of 1.5%; the average export unit price was US$1.32/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%. The import quantity was 1.05 billion meters, a decrease of 11.9%; the import value was US$2.22 billion, a decrease of 12.5%. The average unit price of imports was US$2.12/meter, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%.

In May 2016, the national fabric export volume was 4.01 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%; the export value was US$5.17 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%. The export value of both silk woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics increased, with exports of US$68.694 million and US$1.94 billion respectively, an increase of 8.1% and 1.2% respectively. Cotton cloth exports fluctuated slightly, with exports reaching US$1.3 billion, a decrease of 0.2%. Wool and animal hair woven fabrics experienced a larger decline, with exports reaching US$60.811 million, down 12.3%. 4.8%, 2.3%, 4.3% and 4.1%.

Among them, exports to Myanmar showed significant growth, with exports of US$340 million, an increase of 14.6%; exports to Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar also increased to varying degrees, with exports of US$3.28 billion, US$960 million and US$730 million respectively. Growth rates were 4.8%, 2% and 9.7% respectively.
From January to May, China’s fabric exports to Hong Kong were US$1.49 billion, a decrease of 6.5%. Exports to Pakistan declined, with export value reaching US$690 million, a decrease of 4.8%. Exports to Bangladesh and India both experienced significant growth, with export volumes reaching US$1.71 billion and US$550 million respectively, representing increases of 10.7% and 21.4% respectively.
From January to May, China’s fabric exports to Japan were US$170 million, a decrease of 13.4%. The EU has been in a period of steady recovery since April, with exports amounting to US$1.62 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. Exports to Latin America and North America continued to decline, with export values ​​reaching US$1.62 billion and US$770 million respectively, a decrease of 12.7% and 11.9% respectively.

The export unit price of wool animal hair woven fabrics increased slightly, with a unit price of US$7.37/meter, an increase of 1.2%. The export unit prices of cotton cloth, silk woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics all dropped slightly, to US$1.56/meter, US$5.37/meter and US$1.06/meter respectively, down 7.5%, 5.3% and 7.4% respectively.

Ranked 14th in China’s single export market, among which, the export value of products (fabrics) subject to safeguard measures was US$12.94 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, accounting for 0.8% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Indonesia.
