Xinjiang’s foreign trade economy has stabilized and improved, and exports of textile and other products have increased
Xinjiang, located at the forefront of opening up in the western region, has introduced a series of measures to stabilize growth and promote foreign trade to promote the development of foreign trade economy. In the first half of the year, the total foreign trade import and export value of Xinjiang was 47.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%, showing a stabilizing and improving trend.
Urumqi Customs statistics show that in the first half of the year, Xinjiang’s exports were 41.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.6%; imports were 6.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%; the trade surplus was 34.85 billion yuan, an increase of 13.5%. Xinjiang’s total import and export value from January to June ranked sixth among the 12 provinces and autonomous regions in the west.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Urumqi Customs Comprehensive Statistics Office, Xinjiang’s foreign trade bottomed out in March, and the total foreign trade value in April reached 11.81 billion yuan, a new high in the past six months. In the first half of the year, exports were mainly textiles, mechanical and electrical products and footwear, while imports were mainly mechanical and electrical products and agricultural products.
It is understood that in recent years, the central government and autonomous regions have intensively introduced a series of measures to promote foreign trade and stabilize growth. As the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang has continuously strengthened the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and trade channels, logistics channels, and information channels for Central, Southwest Asia and Europe. Channel, providing strong support for Xinjiang’s export-oriented economic development.
In addition, the State Council has successively approved the establishment of multiple special supervision areas in Xinjiang, such as the Urumqi Export Processing Zone and the Alashankou Comprehensive Bonded Zone. As the warehousing, logistics, and processing trade functions of the special customs supervision areas have been improved, and the cotton processing, grain processing, and wood warehousing and processing businesses have continued to expand, the special customs supervision areas have increasingly become the fulcrum of Xinjiang’s industrial structure adjustment.
