Pakistan’s cotton planting area has not reached the standard, and new cotton production may be significantly reduced
The Ministry of Textiles of Pakistan stated that Pakistan’s cotton planting area this year is 35.84 million acres, a decrease of 21% from the expected target. Therefore, cotton production will be reduced by more than 25% from the expected 2.4 million tons.
Due to unstable cotton prices, conversion of cotton fields to sugarcane and reduced supply of cotton seeds, the Pakistani government has lowered its cotton planting area and output targets for this year to 2.4 million tons and 45 million acres respectively.
