EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made boys’ sweatshirts
On August 12, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/0986/16) on Chinese-made “Goldenapple” brand boys’ sweatshirts. The notifying country in this case is Hungary. The products notified this time are boys’ sweatshirts in different colors with free-end strings on the hood. The word “SPORT” is printed on this product, and the size is between 134-164. Product style/model TP-608. The barcodes are 5553724144772, 5553724144789, 5553724144802 and 5553724144932. The OECD industry classification code is 67000000 – Clothing.
The hood cord of the above sweatshirt hood may become entangled during children’s activities, resulting in the risk of strangulation or injury. This product does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Hungarian authorities have taken measures to recall and delist the above-mentioned products from consumers.
