In August, the growth rate of textile and clothing exports increased again. Both categories of textiles and clothing achieved growth, and the export situation was better than expected. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in RMB terms, exports that month were 186.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%, of which textile exports were 68.37 billion yuan, an increase of 14.8%, and clothing exports were 118.03 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1%.
From January to August, the cumulative exports of textiles and clothing were 1.15009 billion yuan, an increase of 1.8%, of which textile exports were 465.01 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2%, and clothing exports were 685.08 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.3%.
In terms of US dollars, textile and clothing exports in August were US$27.94 billion, a decrease narrowed to 3.1%, of which textile exports were US$10.25 billion, an increase of 5.2%, and clothing exports were US$17.69 billion, a decrease of 7.3%. From January to August, the cumulative exports of textiles and clothing were US$175.96 billion, down 4.6%, of which textile exports were US$71.18 billion, down 1.3%, and clothing exports were US$104.78 billion, down 6.6%.
