According to China Customs statistics, the national fabric export value from January to August 2016 was US$35.96 billion, an increase of 0.3%; the average export unit price was US$1.29/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%. The import value was US$3.69 billion, down 13.1%. The average unit price of imports was US$2.24/meter, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%.

In August 2016, the national fabric export value was US$5.17 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%. Exports of woolen animal hair woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics increased by 20.5% and 8.6% respectively.

Exports of cotton and silk woven fabrics fell by 2.3% and 12.6% respectively.

From January to August, China’s fabric exports to Hong Kong were US$2.38 billion, down 8.2%. Exports to Bangladesh and India both increased, with increases of 9.1% and 13.2% respectively.

From January to August, China’s fabric exports to Japan were US$290 million, a decrease of 9.9%. Exports to the EU have been steadily recovering in recent months, with a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. Exports to Latin America and North America continued to decline, with export values ​​reaching US$2.97 billion and US$1.33 billion respectively, with declines of approximately 10.1% and 10.9% respectively.
