Prices of floral yarns in Pakistan drop sharply as Chinese demand weakens

In the week of October 20-27, the prices of cotton and cotton yarn in Pakistan dropped slightly. Among them, the price of 52/48 blended yarn fell by 1 rupee/pound, a decrease of 0.83%.

Due to strong domestic downstream demand and to ensure spinning profits for spinning companies, domestic cotton yarn prices in Pakistan remain unchanged. In the export market, affected by weak demand in the international market, the price of cotton yarn in Pakistan has been slightly reduced and is expected to remain weak in the next few weeks.

It is understood that China’s demand for Pakistani cotton yarn continues to weaken. In September this year, China’s imports of Pakistani cotton yarn fell by 34% year-on-year. Demand for Pakistani cotton yarn from other countries remains strong.

Last week, ginneries in Pakistan generally started operations, and new cotton processing was launched one after another. Cotton prices fell with the international cotton price, and the spot price in Kachira was about 5,950 rupees/Mund. Polyester staple fiber prices remained stable.
