Northern Tajikistan begins acquiring silkworm cocoons
According to a report by Tajikistan News Agency Khujand on June 8, according to the Soget State Sericulture Management Bureau, the state plans to increase the production of silkworm cocoons to 360 tons this year. At the beginning of this year, 12,000 baby silkworms were imported from China and distributed to silkworm farmers. At present, 126 tons of silkworm cocoons have been sold in several major silkworm producing areas in the state. In order to promote the development of the sericulture industry, the Tajikistan government has specially formulated the “Tajikistan’s 2012-2020 Development Plan for the Sericulture and Cocoon Processing Industry.”
