Focusing on new materials, my country is accelerating the construction of an innovative fiber manufacturing ecology

In the next step, we will focus on new materials, promote breakthroughs in key core technologies and improve technology iteration capabilities, and create a collaborative industrial innovation ecosystem.

Materials are the foundation of manufacturing. Fiber materials are widely used in various fields of production and life. They are an important foundation for design, technology, equipment, and product innovation in textiles, chemical industries, and many other fields.

In 2020, my country’s total textile fiber processing accounted for more than 50% of the world’s share, and its chemical fiber output accounted for more than 70% of the world’s share. Tianyancha data shows that there are currently more than 200 related companies in my country with names or business scopes containing “new fiber materials”.

Scale advantages and a sound industrial system have greatly improved my country’s fiber material innovation level. However, the key common technology supply, standards and intellectual property layout for the development of new fiber materials need to be further improved.

Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center as a national-level manufacturing innovation center, aiming to carry out research and development of common key and cutting-edge technologies around high-end fiber materials and textiles, new functional fiber materials and other fields. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology proposed that in the next step, the innovation center should strengthen the innovation consortium based on key enterprises and scientific research institutes, and organize the implementation of key forward-looking and strategic major science and technology projects.

Sun Ruizhe said that China Textile Federation will strengthen industrial planning, promote technological innovation, and develop new fiber materials in the direction of higher performance, multi-function, lightweight and flexibility. At the same time, efforts will be made to create a collaborative industrial innovation ecosystem, accelerate the construction of public data platforms and technology collaboration platforms, accelerate the integration of innovation chains and industrial chains, and promote the expansion and upgrading of fiber material application scenarios.
