Cultivate unique advantages and enrich the people! Longchuan County promotes the development of the entire silkworm cocoon and silk industry chain
Longchuan County further promotes style revolution and efficiency revolution, adheres to “one industry, one policy” and “one enterprise, one policy”, integrates existing resources in the sericulture industry, and promotes cocoonsilk With the development of the entire industry chain, we have explored the formation of a win-win development model of “government, enterprise, and agriculture” and embarked on an innovative path for the ecological cycle development of the sericulture industry. In recent years, Longchuan County has been selected into Yunnan Province’s “One County, One Industry” sericulture industry characteristic counties and the second batch of “Yunnan Province Characteristic Agricultural Products Advantage Areas” list, and has been rated as a national demonstration county for the full mechanization of major crop production.
It is now the harvest season for silkworm cocoons, and the purchase points in Mengyue Township, Longchuan County are opening scales for purchase one after another. “I sold more than 320 kilograms and earned more than 8,000 yuan. The investment cost of sericulture is low, the cycle is short, and the benefits are obvious. I planted 13 acres of mulberry trees this year. It is expected that each batch will harvest more than 300 kilograms in the future. I earn from selling mulberry leaves and cocoons every year. It can reach 160,000 yuan,” said silkworm farmer Zhang Xingtuan happily. In many villages in Mengyue Township, every household grows mulberry and raises sericulture. The sericulture industry has become a big industry for villagers to get rich. So far, Mengyue Township has distributed a total of 678 silkworm seeds in 7 batches this year, producing 28,230.772 kilograms of fresh cocoons and achieving an increase in income of 1.2818 million yuan. Mulberry and silkworm breeding have become the most dynamic green industry and wealth-making industry.
Longchuan County has established a scientific and technological service model of “Technical Center + Technicians + Farmers”, formulated technical standards for sericulture planting and breeding that are in line with local conditions, and printed technical guidance books such as “A Practical Reader on Sericulture Technology” to strengthen technical services to farmers. . Implement “graded salary fixing” for annual work, establish a mechanism to link technician wages with farmers’ income, accurately provide farmers with technical services in all aspects of pre-, mid- and post-production mulberry planting and silkworm rearing, move training classes to the fields, and teach farmers step-by-step about mulberry Knowledge on garden fertilization, unified prevention and control, greenhouse disinfection, mulberry tree pruning and fertilizer input in mulberry gardens. So far, the county has trained about 100,000 farmers.
Adopting the development model of “government + leading enterprises + bases + farmers”, Longchuan County strives to build a community of interests for the government, companies, and farmers. By establishing a co-breeding base for small silkworms, the company takes on the most difficult and risky links in the silkworm industry chain, while handing over the least difficult and lowest-risk links to farmers, achieving continuous factory-like operations in agricultural production. The company signs entrusted processing agreements with farmers, implements minimum protective price purchases, and insists on paying cash without IOUs. This not only ensures the company’s demand for high-quality raw materials, but also protects the interests of farmers to the greatest extent. The company implements an agricultural circular economy model and uses pruned mulberry branches to cultivate fungus, which has been successfully produced. It has achieved full utilization of mulberry trees and achieved a full cycle, further increasing the income of farmers and truly realizing “developing industries and enriching the people.”
Currently, 53,000 acres of mulberry trees are planted in Longchuan County, covering 88% of the administrative villages. The county actually has 14,000 acres of mulberry orchards in production, involving 46 village groups in 9 towns and 2,053 sericulture households. In 2022, 17,736 large silkworms were bred in the county, producing 808.4 tons of fresh cocoons. Silkworm farmers’ income from selling fresh cocoons was 34.36 million yuan, and the average household income from silkworm raising was 16,700 yuan.
The county party committee secretary said
We must adhere to the concept of industrialization to grasp the agricultural industry, strive to promote the in-depth integrated development of the “one, two, and three” sericulture industries, and strive to create a full industrial chain of “mulberry gardens + silkworm cocoon processing + textile manufacturing + silk weaving + clothing manufacturing”; focus on application Typical guiding method, vigorously promote the construction of green, high-quality and efficient mulberry base, continuously improve basic supporting facilities, and make every effort to build Longchuan into an important high-quality raw material cocoon and high-grade cocoon and silk production and processing base in Yunnan; it is also necessary to accurately implement the “cocoon to attract silk” , use silk to attract silk, use silk to attract trade”, introduce a group of leading enterprises, make every effort to promote the development of industrial clusters, continuously strengthen the park economy, continue to improve the mechanism of sericulture, linking farmers and enriching farmers, and orderly promote the application research of industrial added value, and contribute to rural revitalization Lay a solid industrial foundation.
——Secretary of the Longchuan County Party Committee Cun Daichun
Grassroots theory
In the past, people said that our area was unsuitable for sericulture due to its steep mountains, thin terrain and lack of water. Now, not only have we done it, but we have done it well. In 2019, the income from sericulture reached 1.604 million yuan, making it the first village in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture to achieve an income of 1 million yuan from sericulture. Planting mulberry and raising silkworms is a “golden key” that can open the door to happiness in increasing income and becoming rich. In the future, we will firmly seize the opportunity to increase income in the sericulture industry and do our best to make a big contribution to rural revitalization.
——Chang Zhonglin, Secretary of the Party Branch of Yingpan Village, Mengyue Township
In accordance with the idea of ”growing sericulture on slopes and growing flue-cured tobacco in paddy fields”, optimize the spatial layout of industries without competing for space, effectively activate land resources, and promote agricultural income through multiple channels. The development of sericulture production does not require high-intensity labor, the price is stable, the risk is low, and it can bring stable income to the people.
