/Myanmar’s garment exports exceeded US$100 million in the first quarter of the fiscal year
Global New Light of Myanmar reported that according to statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Finance, exports of ready-made garments exceeded US$1.174 billion in the second quarter of the 2021/22 fiscal year, compared with 842.6 billion US dollars in the same period of the previous fiscal year. US$332.2 million, an increase of US$332.2 million. Garment orders from Japan, China, South Korea, the European Union and other countries are produced in Myanmar using the supplied materials processing (CMP) method. Myanmar’s garments are mainly exported to 10 countries, including US$930 million to Germany, US$323 million to the United Kingdom, US$294 million to Spain, US$266 million to France, US$158 million to Denmark, and US$158 million to Italy. Exports were US$157 million and exports to the Netherlands were US$145 million.
In addition to rice, beans, corn, etc., Myanmar’s main export commodities are garments processed from imported materials. In the past five years, garment exports have more than quadrupled and are developing rapidly.
